Speed limit complaints

From Jersey Coastguard,
23 June 2011

Jersey Coastguard has received a number of complaints from boat and beach users concerned that some vessels are being operated in a manner contrary to the requirements of legislation as detailed in the Notice to Mariners.

Officers will be attending areas of concern with speed monitoring devices. Owners and operators of any vessels identified as not being driven appropriately could find action being taken against them.

Jersey legislation imposes speed limits on boats for safety reasons and these limits have to be complied with.

Important information concerning vessel speed limits can be found in the content of the 2011 Notice to Mariners called 'notice 01 annual permanent notices and regulations.'
