10 emergency call-outs for Jersey Coastguard
From Jersey Coastguard,
26 August 2011
Over the last 7 days, Jersey Coastguard has handled 10 emergency call-outs from vessels and people in need of assistance.
A number of these incidents involved craft with propulsion and steering failures caused by discarded fishing gear and weed, while others involved a cliff rescue, a yacht aground, and motorboats with fuel and engine problems.
In order to coordinate effective responses to these particular incidents, Jersey Coastguard called upon the St Helier and St Catherine’s lifeboats, States of Jersey Police, Jersey Fire & Rescue, Jersey Ambulance Service, French & Guernsey Coastguards, Jersey Marinas, RNLI Beach lifeguards and privately owned vessels that offered assistance.
Jersey Coastguard is pleased to confirm that every incident passed without serious loss or injury. In addition they would like to thank members of all the other services who provided support during each incident.
