Fuel

You can get fuel from 3 outlets at the harbour:

  • South Pier in the main harbour directly below the St Helier Yacht Club
  • Victoria Pier alongside La Collette Yacht Basin immediately to starboard prior to entering the main harbour
  • inside Elizabeth Marina

If you are getting fuel from inside Elizabeth Marina, please be aware that depending upon draught, the berth is normally accessible about 3 hours each side of high water.

You should check the adjacent depth gauge to see if the berth is accessible for your vessel.

Marinas access

Entry to marina and visitor berths

When the marina is accessible, your vessel will be directed by the port control signals — and also the harbour control launches at peak periods — to travel through the commercial harbour and proceed to the visitor berths. You must observe port signals closely.

If the marina is not accessible, your vessel should wait at the holding pontoon to the port of the marina entrance (pontoons 4 and 5), at the head of the commercial harbour.

Marina gate

The marina pond is maintained at a level of 5 metres (16.5 feet) above chart datum by means of a sill gate.

International port traffic signals and depth gauges show when entry and exit are possible. This can be taken as approximately 3 hours either side of high water, the actual period differing slightly with Spring and Neap tides.

A digital gauge showing the depth of water (in metres) above the sill gate is situated at the entrance to the marina.

Security

The Port of Jersey provides a 24 hour watch across the port.

CCTV and security patrols

There is extensive CCTV monitoring throughout the following areas:

  • marinas
  • boat parks
  • all surrounding port areas

Security patrols are also carried out throughout the day and night.

Boat Watch

In 2009 Jersey Marinas established the Boat Watch scheme. This is similar to a neighbourhood watch scheme.

The scheme allows boat owners and port users to report incidents or unusual activities to the Port authorities via a dedicated telephone number.

Reporting incidents

For any incidents taking place in the marinas, you should follow the guidance on emergency procedures in marinas.

You can report other incidents using the general event reporting form. This is available from the Marine Leisure Centre and Maritime House.

Alternatively, you can report an incident direct to the coastguard.
